The minority and PDP factions in the House of Representatives have refused to support Hon.’s suggestion. Ikenga Ugochinyere and his group of opposing lawmakers are saying that the parliament does not recognize their group.

This information was in a statement signed by all the leaders of the minority group: Kingsley Chinda, Ali Madaki, Ali Isah, and George Ozodinobi.

The lawmakers who are against the government said this after a press conference held by Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere and five other people, along with 54 other members who are also against the government.

The Opposition Lawmakers Coalition said they will leave the PDP if its leaders don’t fix a fake list of caretaker committees in Rivers and 10 other states with people from the All Progressive Congress (APC). They said this at a press conference on Monday.

The Opposition Lawmakers Coalition wants the acting national chairman of PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagun, to step down and let someone from the North Central area take over until the party’s convention.

The opposition lawmakers’ position is making the tension in PDP worse as they get ready for an important NEC meeting on April 18.

Reacting to the declarations of the opposition lawmakers, the caucuses yesterday said: “Our attention has been drawn to a press release by the group and state unequivocally that the Minority caucus and PDP Caucus dissociate themselves from the said press statement.

“The said coalition of lawmakers led by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere is unknown to the parliament and both caucuses condemn

in totality the absurd move, uncouth and unparliamentary language of the group.

“That the general public should take note that such a coalition is unknown to parliament and their demands does not represent that of the Minority parties. The said lawmakers should desist from further misinformation of the public and be more honourable in their conduct,” the statement added.
