A leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Agboola Ajayi, said that the National Assembly should change the Constitution and explain the responsibilities of a deputy governor.

Ajayi, who is running for governor in Ondo, said that changing the laws could help stop problems with deputy governors being seen as unimportant.

He said the National Assembly needs to clarify and explain the duties of the governor and vice president in the constitution. He also mentioned that the law restricts the deputy governor. “
“This is the place where you work, but you can only do your job if the boss agrees and tells you what to do. ” It’s okay if he doesn’t want to play with you.

I think we should change that part and give them a role in the constitution to make them more important because they are connected.

Since democracy came back to Nigeria in 1999, there have been fights between governors and their deputies in the country’s politics.

The relationship between governors and their deputies is often not very friendly.

Many deputies have argued with their bosses, who often accused them of taking over their authority. Some deputies are removed by the governors before their time in office is over.

Many deputy governors who tried to take over from their bosses ended up with strained relationships. In Edo State, the House of Assembly removed Philip Shaibu as deputy governor.

Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki had been fighting for a long time over whether Shaibu could run for governor. Shaibu’s decision to move was the final outcome of their battle.

However, Agboola vows to change how governors and their deputies work together if he becomes the Ondo governor.

“If I become the governor of Ondo State, I will do things differently. ” Make sure my deputy governor has lots of work to do. People should see him as a part of the government. There are problems between the governor and the deputy that need to be fixed.

“I will make the governor’s office stronger and more efficient if I am in that role,” he said, saying he is not trying to take over power.
