Chief Edwin Clark told Ambassador Illiya Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP, to step down from his role and not let the party fail under his leadership.

Clark said this in a letter to Damagum on April 24, 2024. He also said that the PDP National Executive Committee was weak for letting the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, fool everyone in the meeting. He added that no one was brave enough to speak the truth to those in charge.

The older man who criticized the condition of the party under Damagum’s leadership said, “This is a strong warning to you, Mr. Leader” The temporary leader of the party needs to either improve or step down from the position to prevent the party from falling apart.

Clark said that Damagum’s leadership of the party has proven the accusations that he was taking orders from Wike.

The older politician, in the letter, expressed sadness about Damagum not doing anything about the problems in the PDP party in Rivers State. This includes the PDP lawmakers leaving the party and the list of temporary leaders.

He said, “Some people are saying that Mr. Wike helped you become the Acting National Chairman, so you see him as your “boss”.

“Some people think you are trying to downplay the power of NEC in the role you are taking on. ” It seems that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) is made up of Mr. ____ Wike’s team, which includes you as Acting National Chairman, the National Secretary, the National Publicity Secretary, and leaders like Chief Dan Orbih. He is not like his late father, Chief MCK Orbih, who was a great politician. We were all in the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in 1979.

He said, “Just two days ago, after the so-called NEC meeting, and without considering the Governor’s Forum and the NEC’s request, the party was hit with an ex-parte order from a federal high court in Abuja. This order stops the PDP NWC from reviewing the list of members in charge of Rivers State. ”

What is happening to our strong court system, when the Supreme Court says that political parties should handle their own business. If the PDP NWC and other party members really believe in the party, they should go to court and challenge this unfair order that tries to meddle in the party’s business.

“He wrote that it’s hard to believe that the party’s leaders are ignoring what’s happening in Rivers State because they are being controlled by someone who pays them. “
