The government has formed a 28-person committee to plan and carry out events for President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office.
A special group will be in charge of the week-long celebrations from May 22-29, 2024, to remember President Tinubu’s first year as president.
The committee was started on Friday by Senator George Akume, who will lead it.
Akume said the celebrations are to tell Nigerians about what Tinubu’s administration has achieved in its first year and also to show that they are committed to delivering on the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
“We are celebrating to show Nigerians what the current government has achieved in the past year. We also want to tell our citizens that the government will continue to work towards making positive changes to improve the lives of Nigerians,” said Akume.
The 28-person committee includes important government leaders like cabinet ministers and security chiefs.
The group has the President’s Chief of Staff, the Honorable. Femi Gbajabiamila and Dr. are important people in the government. Folasade Yemi-Esan is the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, and her full name is Barrister Yemi-Esan. Nyesom Wike, Finance Minister Wale Edun, and some other people.
To make sure everything goes smoothly, 11 smaller groups were also started to oversee different parts like how people are treated, where things happen, the news, keeping things safe, and a big celebration.
Some of the activities that are allowed are press conferences, updates on how different areas of the country are doing, events organized by the First Lady, discussions about important national issues, starting a fund for building better infrastructure, and a speech made by the president that is broadcasted to the whole country.

“The events for the celebration are: a media briefing on Wednesday, May 22, 2024; updates from different sectors on Thursday, May 23 – Friday, May 24, 2024; and the First Lady’s program from Saturday, May 25 – Monday, May 27, 2024. ”
“The country will have important events on May 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2024. The President will launch a fund for infrastructure development, talk to the media, and there will be a big celebration with a parade and dinner. ”
The committee has the power to organize and carry out all the anniversary events that have been approved. They can also ask other organizations or people for help, and take care of any other tasks needed to make the celebrations successful.
