Andrey Rublev lost his title at the Monte Carlo Masters in the first round to Australian Alexei Popyrin.

Popyrin won the second-round match easily, and the Russian player didn’t play well.

The 46th-ranked player will play against either Alex de Minaur or Tallon Griekspoor. If they win, they might play against Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

Rublev has been doing poorly in his recent matches. He lost in Miami and Indian Wells.

The player who was ranked sixth had a chance to tie the score at 5-5 in the second set, but made a mistake and Popyrin won the match.

Rublev won his first Masters 1000 title in Monaco last year by defeating Holger Rune in the final.
