Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu, said nice things about Nyoki Ita for holding a golf event in memory of his late father, Pastor Ekpenyong Ita. The event brought golfers and supporters from all over the country.

The governor played in a golf tournament and said Pastor Ekpenyong Ita was a great man who helped a lot of people. He also said it was a big honor to name a part of the Calabar Golf Club after him.

Governor Otu couldn’t make it, so Mrs. Agnes Atsu came instead. She told the Calabar Golf Club members that the governor has a plan to improve the club soon.

Before, the leader of the Calabar Golf Club, Major General A M Sabo, praised Nyoki Ita, for getting hole 5 of the Calabar Golf Course in memory of his father and for including golf in his father’s funeral. Nyoki Ita is also a member of the club.

Nyoki Ita said his dad was a good man and a leader in the church. He thanked his friends and golfing buddies for coming to his dad’s funeral.

He said that the new Pastor Ekpenyong Ita Memorial Golf event will happen every year after having its first one last Saturday in Calabar.

 

At the end of the maiden Pastor Ekpeyong Ita Memorial Golf event, Sam Kalio won with a score of 72.
Raymond Ovat came in second place with a score of 72, and Samson Onah, the club’s Secretary, came in third.

Retired Col Pam Ogar surprised everyone and won the veteran category in golf with a score of 81. Paul Ebiala got a score of 85 and came in second place.

Esther Eyo won the ladies’ competition with a score of 79. Gladness Dan came in second with a score of 91.

The best part of the event was giving awards to those who did well.
