The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said that soldiers in the country stopped 192 terrorists, arrested 341 people, and saved 62 hostages.
The military leaders said that Nigeria’s security problems are caused by the country itself and cannot be solved without the help of its people.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, said this when he talked to reporters in Abuja on Thursday.
Buba said 122 ISWAP/JAS fighters gave up and surrendered with their families after a lot of fighting.
He said the soldiers also caught 37 people they thought were stealing oil and found stolen oil worth N821,248,740. 00
General Buba said that the soldiers found 211 different weapons and 6,288 different bullets from criminals.
The Defense Spokesman told us about the weapons and bullets they found. They found a total of 128 AK47 rifles, 26 dane guns, 1,301 rounds of 7. 62mm NATO bullets, 3,260 rounds of 7. 62mm special bullets, 1,325 live bullets, and 140 rounds of 9mm bullets, along with other items.
Meanwhile in the Niger Delta, Buba said soldiers found and broke 99 holes in the ground, 36 tanks for storing things, and 192 ovens for cooking.
The troops found 349,970 liters of stolen oil, 112,135 liters of illegal diesel fuel, 7,560 liters of kerosene, and 13,000 liters of gasoline.
He said that the military is working hard to stop terrorists, break up their groups, and make it so they can’t hurt people.
Buba also said that the military will keep looking for the leaders of terrorist groups in all the places where they operate.
He said that the military has done a lot of airstrikes that have killed many terrorist leaders and their followers hiding in different areas.
“It’s not surprising that these terrorists and their supporters want to threaten the military because of the air strikes. ” The plan is to show that some people hurt or killed are actually innocent citizens, not friends of the terrorists.
He asked the media to be careful of the actions of terrorist groups and their supporters. He said, “Our work has stopped these bad people from achieving their main goals. ”
Buba saw that the military knows there is still a difficult war ahead. They want to stop terrorists from being able to keep fighting.
He said that the war cannot be won without the help of many people.
“Winning the war without people’s help is almost impossible. ” We want people and organizations to come together to help defeat the terrorists. People need to understand that they have a duty to their country.
General Buba said that the problems of violence and crime in Nigeria are caused by groups like Boko Haram, illegal mining, and kidnapping, as well as protests from the IPOB.
“All these show that our security problems are caused by ourselves in the country. ” These actions are not allowed by the constitution and it’s not okay for people or groups to use weapons against the government. “Anyone who breaks this rule in the constitution will face strong military action. ” He warned
