An activist and lawyer from Abuja, Deji Adeyanju, disagreed with the six-month prison sentence given by a Federal High Court in Lagos to celebrity transgender, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, for misusing Naira.

Adeyanju said that Bobrisky, also known as ‘Mummy of Lagos’, was given a prison sentence without the option of paying a fine. This suggests that Bobrisky is being punished for something other than damaging the Naira.

In a statement on Facebook, the activist said it is unfair for the Judge to send Bobrisky to prison. He believes Bobrisky should be given a second chance and use his social media influence for good. He also thinks there are too many people in prison already.

“We’re worried about the six-month sentence that Mr. Smith received” Okuneye Idris Olarewaju, also known as Bobrisky, has been reported by several national news platforms for a crime involving damaging Naira bills. He does not have the choice to pay a fine for this offence. We don’t support breaking the law, but we want to say that many people and organizations are trying to reduce the number of people in prison. Olarewaju, who has never been in trouble before, has been given a six-month jail sentence, even though he spoke in court and promised to use his influence to educate people about not damaging the Naira.

“When giving out punishments, we want our courts to consider the cultural context of the crimes. ” Spraying money at events, also known as Naira mutilation, is against the law but has been a part of our culture for a very long time. The important organizations need to educate a lot of people about the issue before they try to punish anyone for it. We also see that even at the event where Mr. n Olarenwaju was accused of damaging the Naira, and there were many other people doing the same thing.

The question is, why focus on Mr. ___ specifically Security agencies must be careful not to make it seem like the Defendant is being accused of other crimes besides the ones listed on the charges.

“In summary, we want the security agencies to focus on helping the community for crimes that don’t harm anyone, like cutting or defacing money. And we promise to follow the laws and protect people’s rights,” Adeyanju said.

According to BNN Justice Abimbola Awogboro from the Federal High Court in Lagos has given Bobrisky a six-month jail sentence for damaging and mistreating the Naira notes. This happened after Bobrisky was arrested and charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
