Another girl from Chibok school, Lydia Simon, was rescued by soldiers on Wednesday. They were part of Operation Desert Sanity III in the North-East.

Ten years after she was taken by Boko Haram, soldiers saved her and her three kids in Gwoza, Borno State. It was on April 17, 2024, that the 82 Division Task Force Battalion rescued them. She had been kidnapped with over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, in 2014.

Zagazola Makama, who knows a lot about fighting against rebellions and is an expert in keeping things safe in the Lake Chad area, said that insiders with knowledge told him that a girl named Lydia, who was number 68 of the schoolgirls taken away, got away from a place called Ali Ngulde’s camp in the Mandara Mountains. She had been kept there for many years.

She gave up to the soldiers of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion at Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of the State. The Chibok girl who was saved was pregnant and said she came from Pemi Town in Chibok LGA.

On April 14, 2024, it will be 10 years since 276 girls were taken from Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram fighters.

57 girls got away from their captors in a few days, 16 were saved later, and 107 were let go after negotiations at different times.

The Federal and Borno State Governments, along with the Nigerian Army, promised to keep working hard to save the other schoolgirls who were taken by the terrorists.
