Due to allegations that they engaged in illicit mining activities in Kwara State the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed lawsuits against two Chinese nationals and their business.

The Federal High Court in Ilorin arraigned the accused Duan Ya Hong and Xiao Yi as well as their business Ebuy Concept Limited.

The EFCC X handle on Twitter where the statement was posted on Friday stated that the defendants were arraigned on April 22 and are facing serious charges.

They were charged with violating Nigerian laws by allegedly failing to pay royalties to the Federal Government and engaging in the possession and trade of solid minerals without the required government authorization.

LTD Duan Ya Hong Xiao Yi procured minerals specifically thirty tons of minerals transported in a truck with registration number JJJ 386 XT without the proper authority sometime in February 2024 at Banni in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State under the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court. This act was unlawful and was punishable under Section 1(8)(b) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act 1984.
