Around 16000 ad hoc employees and more than 10000 security guards will be present at the local government election on Saturday according to Mr. Isiaka Olagunju Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
It is anticipated that 6398 polling places throughout the state will host the local government election.
This is happening at the same time that political parties expressed optimism about their chances and confidence in a free and fair local government election in Oyo on Saturday.
Political parties were satisfied that the procedures leading up to Saturday’s election were proceeding according to Mr. Adegbenro Fagbemi chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
Fagbemi made this statement on Thursday while political party representatives were watching the loading of election materials into trucks for delivery to the different polling places at the OYSIEC headquarters in Ibadan.
Even so, he said that the IPAC’s trivial concern was that each truck carrying electoral materials should have had an IPAC member on board to supervise and guarantee the material’s safe arrival at OYSIEC offices.
