“A group called Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA) says people in Nigeria don’t know enough about election rules and how elections work. ”

So, the media was asked to learn more about the Electoral Act and the rules of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This is to help the public understand the election process and prevent unnecessary arguments and tension in the country.

PAACA’s Ezenwa Nwagwu asked for this during a workshop to help the media, traditional, and religious groups in Kano State.

He was sad because many people don’t know the laws and rules for elections, so the media needs to help teach them.

“We are in Kano to talk to people about the laws governing elections in Nigeria. ”

“As we traveled, we learned that important people are very interested in the election but don’t know much about its laws. ” INEC just put out a 503-page report but not many people are paying attention to it.

“The Electoral Act 2022 and INEC guidelines are in place, but many Nigerians, including important people, still don’t understand how elections work. ” And that’s what made us start talking to the important people all over the country.

“We talk to the media because they help us talk to the people. ” If we work closely with the media, we think we can achieve our goals more quickly.

“We are teaming up with the media to teach Nigerians about the laws that apply to elections. Whether you are a politician, member of the media, or part of a civil society organization, it’s important to understand what the law says about elections. ” Our leaders are chosen by elections. That’s the only way we do it. Nwagwu said that if you don’t know the rules, you can make things worse.

The chairman of the Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abbas Ibrahim, said the training is important for journalists to learn about the Electoral Act. He wants journalists to wake up and make an effort to understand it.

He also asked journalists to follow the rules of conduct for their job.
