Burna Boy’s creative performance at the 66th Recording Academy Grammy Awards, held on Sunday in Los Angeles, California, USA, has been praised by Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the executive secretary and chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO).

With the smash song “Sitting on Top of the World,” the Grammy-winning sensation—the first Nigerian performer at the Grammy Awards main ceremony—raised awareness worldwide and helped establish prominence for Nigerian culture.

Ajiboye praised Burna Boy’s performance, which showcased the talents of 21 Savage and Brandy, stating that it perfectly-recognized and celebrated both African culture in general and Nigerian culture in particular.

While praising Davido, Ajiboye added that the musician has achieved amazing success in his chosen field and shouldn’t look back because everyone knows that he could have won the Grammy but it didn’t work out. Ajiboye expressed optimism that Nigeria would win a series of Grammys in the years to come, honoring the country.

As for Nigerian artists, the government has promised to help them in their efforts to elevate our culture beyond all others in the world of civilization.

Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy Hannatu Musa, who represented Nigeria at this year’s Grammy Awards, insisted that the nominated artists maintain focus and faith in the industry. She emphasized that Nigeria’s prominence was not diminished, even if the country did not win any award categories, as our music was presented flawlessly and appropriately to the world.
