With a long history, the Nigerian music business is home to many legendary musicians who left their imprint before departing for the hereafter.

The three musicians, renowned Orlando Julius Ekemode, renowned highlife musician and producer Pa Chris Ajilo, and juju expert Sir I.K. Dairo, are still making an impact on the music industry.

One significant factor is that they are all from Osun State’s Ijebu Ijesha/Ilesha axis, the creative land from which the Yoruba race originally originated.

A titan of the Nigerian music scene, Isaiah Kehinde Dairo, MBE, passed away in February 1996 and left a lasting legacy for Juju performers. Not only is the “Mo sorire” exponent recognized as a man of faith for bringing the C & S Church to Nigeria, but he also produced offspring like Paul Play Dairo, who has increased his prominence in the modern music industry.

Chris Ajilo was one of the few artists who participated in Nigeria’s Independence Orchestra in 1960. He celebrated his 94th posthumous birthday on December 26, 2023.

Ajilo’s son, Korede who spoke exclusively about his dad said that “since the transition of our dad, & great grandpa two years ago, The family have been coping but we are really missing him. The vacuum caused by his death is too a great loss”.
